I wrote a long email to my satc-obssessed friend detailing my thoughts about the movie, so I might as well use an edited version of that as a substitute for actually blogging...

Aaaah I wish the media would lay off the Heath Ledger story for a bit. Nothing new has happened since Wednesday, and it's just making me sad. I know people die all the time, and they don't get the attention Heath did, but it's difficult not to be affected when so many details of his private life are made public. It's hard not to be affected when magazines show photos of his daughter clinging to his leg, and comments from his parents and sister are published in the newspapers. I'm not sad because he's a celebrity (though I did really like him as an actor), it's just the story that's making me sad - it's almost like watching a movie and empathizing with the characters. And obviously if a story (with quotes from the person's family and friends) accompanies news of the death it affects people more...and I think that's part of the reason why everyone cares so much about Heath's death.

I am back at school. I'm doing my MA in journalism. It is hard. Procrastinating doesn't help much.
I'm excited for the following albums:
1) The Con - Tegan and Sara (it leaked but I can't find the leaked tracks. Plus it's no fun buying a new album when you've already downloaded all the songs.) 2) Under the Black Light - Rilo Kiley
that's all.
I miss living in a big city.

I feel really sorry for Paris Hilton. She doesn't deserve special treatment because she's a celebrity, but she doesn't deserve to be treated worse either. Six weeks in jail seems a little harsh for what she did. And the judge who threw her back in jail apparently takes bribes and gives preferential treatment to his celebrity friends (i.e. Mel Gibson).
Anyway, it's just really hard to see someone crying like that, regardless of who they are, or even what they did.

Weirdness Meme
RULES: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 5 people to be tagged and list their names.
1.) The last numbers I see before I go to sleep can't add up to 4 or 6. For example, if I'm on page 33 of the book I'm reading, I have to stop reading on page 34, because 3+3=6. 2.) If I'm in a booth at a restaurant, I have to sit on the outside, because sitting beside the wall with someone blocking my access to the aisle makes me feel really claustrophobic. (But I don't feel claustrophobic in elevators). 3.) I'm too shy to initiate hugs, even with people I'm really close to. (ESPECIALLY with people I'm really close to). 4.) I can't sleep with my closet open. 5.) I love taking the subway and the streetcar, but not the bus. 6.) I can't swear in front of other people. 7.) I want to get my heart broken. 8.) I still keep in touch with pen pals I've been writing to since I was 11. 9.) On my 7th birthday, I slapped my cousin in the face because she blew out my birthday candles. 10.) The last time I ate meat I was four.

Tegan and Sara - I Can't Take It |
] |
I LOVE the Dixie Chicks.
Go see Shut Up and Sing! If you can, it's playing in so few theatres...and NBC won't play the ad?!
Even Tegan (of Tegan and Sara) wanted to marry Natalie Maines after she saw it.

I want to be spiritual, but I don't know how to do that without being religious. I was raised and consider myself Jain, and religious beliefs have influenced my lifestyle decisions (like becoming a vegan), but I've never felt anything by going to the temple or praying...and I'm not interested in doing such things anyway...I just don't want everything in my life to be so practical, so connected to reality...

Somebody needs to create a job where one of the requirements is that you have to be introverted. Not everyone can be outgoing and friendly (and not everyone can fake it either!)

It's my birthday!
Now I'm off to work, which is slightly annoying but it's okay cause yesterday we had a party, themed "rot your teeth, not your liver." (BYOC - bring your own candy).

I feel like I should apply to grad school just cause everyone's all like, "I'm applying to grad school, what are you doing next year?" (The emphasis on the "you" is probably in my head.)
That's a pretty dumb reason to apply to grad school. Anyways...
I'm probably going to apply to grad school eventually, but right now I have no work ethic and need to develop one before I waste money/time/energy. And I'm sick of school.

I feel the most independent when I cook. Which is unfortunately about once a week at the moment. Campus food=yuck.
On the cover of Famous Players' "magazine", they airbrushed Joaquin Phoenix's lip?!
Everyone must read Wicked right now.
Driving a hybrid van/truck through downtown Toronto is very scary, especially if you've never driven in downtown Toronto before.

Step 1: Get your playlist together, put it on random, and play. Step 2: Write down the first line of each song that plays. Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from. (Don't let the bitches Google it!) Step 4: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly!

I am so dumb. I had the opportunity to talk to Cameron Crowe last week, but I was too shy. When am I going to have the opportunity to talk to my FAVOURITE director EVER again?
Why do people insist on engaging in intensely personal cell phone conversations in public? Especially on the bus, where everyone else is quiet and forced to listen and it's just embarrassing...

Rilo Kiley - Portions for Foxes |
] |
Kevin Smith Your film will be 46% romantic, 37% comedy, 19% complex plot, and a $ 21 million budget. |
| Kevin will take your slacker life and turn it into the cult classic it deserves to be --- like Mallrats (just kidding). If you can handle the menacing presence of Jay and Silent Bob all throughout your film, then Kevin is willing to oblige. Basically, he can take the lives of people who don't have much of a life and make it entertaining, so you're in good hands. |
|
My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 23% on action-romance |
|
You scored higher than 54% on humor |
|
You scored higher than 0% on complexity |
|
You scored higher than 1% on budget |
